AMMONITE NEGATIVE PENDANT
A Fine Silver Pendant on a Sterling Silver Chain
This evocative pendant recalls a bygone age. A time when dinosaurs roamed the land and humans didn’t!
The pendant is handcrafted in fine silver and is created from an ammonite negative – an imprint of an ammonite.
A liver of sulphur patina has been applied to enhance the detail and to give a subtle sea blue/green sheen. The pendant is also textured on the back for added interest.
It measures approximately 0.5″/1.25cm x 0.5″/1.25cm, but is not round, and weighs about 3.35g.
The sterling silver chain is an 18 inch / 46cm long diamond cut curb chain approximately 1mm thick. It fastens with a bolt ring clasp.
This item is not hallmarked as it weighs less than 7.78g.

Ammonites existed during the Jurassic and Cretaceous Ages and disappeared at the end of the Cretaceous period at about the same time that the dinosaurs became extinct.
They were marine creatures with a spiral shell and very similar to a nautilus.
The ammonite negative used for this piece was dated at about 183 million years old.
